Catchin’ a lime…

...does NOT involve throwing a small green citrus fruit back and forth
with your friends...I’m terribly sorry to inform you!
Instead, ‘catchin’ a lime’ is a term used by the people of Grenada (my 2nd home)
and many other small islands in the beautiful Caribbean, as a way of describing
a good place to chill and catch vibes. Usually outside, on the wall of your house,
on the block, or outside your favourite shop, a lime is simply just a time and place
to chill amongst those you can connect with, catching jokes, drinking and debating
about whatever the moment evokes, there are NO RULES!

Yesterday evening, accompanied by Brother Tikini and Brother Uchiyama, I enjoyed
a very special lime at the one and only ‘Phi Wi Spot’ in Shimokitazawa
with the shop staff aka our extended family.

Myself and Mr Tikini arrived first, Beer in hand enjoying the unrelenting Japanese
sun rays… Chilling outside the shop where if you don’t get knocked over by a passing
motorcycle, you’re bound to get french-kissed a few times by the local Setagaya mosquitos…
Shortly after joined by a Helmet-rocking Uchiyama San, pushing his ‘ped down the street.

Vibes were HIGH… All natural of course. We jammed, cracking joke about how long
Mr Tikini spent in the toilet… Avoiding the ever attacking onslaught of mosquitos,
moths and beetles (starting to sound like the outback adventures of Steve Irwin-R.I.P.)
A true summer time in TYO…
